The British left the Indians with the tea legacy among other things. Indians drop everything for tea time around 4 p.m. Time for the family to gather around, have tea and biscuits or other snacks. Biscuits in India are not the biscuits in America. Biscuits are actually cookies, but are called biscuits. tonguetwister Grin
And Indians call tea , Chai. Its the kind Shin drinks with milk and sugar. But the Indians go a step further big grin They sometimes add ginger to it and also spices!!!! Add a little crushed fresh ginger to the hot  tea and then strain it out. It actually works wonders for cold and congestion. Or at least feel good to have it when one has the sniffles.

I drink Earl Grey and vanilla tea, it's my favourite. If I can't get that, just Earl Grey will do!
I often have afernoon tea when I'm at home, with a proper teapot and cup and saucer, and biscuits (cookies) and maybe some delicate sandwiches Smiley It's a nice thing to do. Last time I did it while watching The Sound of Music on a cold Saturday afternoon Grin
Well, I am just about to start my working day while you are all probably still in bed.
Have a great day, won't you?

Good morning everyone! Have a nice day....This week I'm going to get my transcripts for my degree. That would be a first step toward any goal. My good neighbour will help me with my taxes. Have to mail in my medical receipts for a refund. Two grief support meetings this week ...one for my little 4 year old, the other for the older ones. Its going to be a long week.....God carry me through! angel yellow

Sounds like a full week, especially considering that the  ones may need to talk after their grief support meetings. Congratulations on going forward with what you'll need for your degree! I admire you for being able to move on (at least somewhat) from your own grief. cross prayer Have you decided which degree to go for yet (just curious)?

Well, Shin, I can't stand 'Lipton' brand green tea. Had that this morning and  Tongue. I feel the same way about 'gun powder' green tea.

AutumnRose - I love, love, love Earl Gray tea! Trouble is, I had so much of it that I got an allergy to it (I have to rotate what I eat for that reason, but hadn't learned to do that yet at that point).  And having that while watching 'Sound of Music' sounds so wonderful.

Patricia - Ginger is also great for tummy upset and headache! I love it (the real stuff and not the flavors of it). As far as the biscuits being cookies (to Americans) - don't the British call them that, too?

Quiet, restful day planned here. Have a cardiology appt/test on Wednesday and I've developed a real fear and dislike for cardiologists (after all, they hurt me alot). I really am not looking forward to the appt!

What's a good green tea then? Lipton is the tea I love best in regards to main brands, so I tried their 'Green Tea' and naturally.. it was a penance.

Yes.. Chai tea, all that ginger.. I think cardamon perhaps.. lots of spices. . wonderful..

Ginger is good for the stomach, I am told. If you like, buy crystallized ginger if you can find it.. it's ginger in solid slices with a sugar coating.. Great snack.. Heheh.

I sometimes add a little ginger to my tea. Smiley

And despite my Japanese studies I have yet to see a Japanese tea ceremony in person. Sigh. That would suit me so well, I am quite certain.

Are you Japanese then Shin (genetically, that is)? The best green tea I've found is by Traditional Medicinals. I also like Bigelow's green teas.

Cardamom is great! I love it in cookies.

I will check them out. Smiley

No, I just appreciate the Asian cultures in many ways.. they still have some of the cultural traditions of respect of family.. courtesy.. discipline.. that we now lack. I would love to be over there, if my language skills were better, and helping them learn the Latin mass and evangelizing them with Saints' Quotes..

Which is why I hope someday I get some people on these forums who love the quotes of the saints enough and are bi-lingual that we can translate some over. It's a piccolo sogno of mine.. That's Italian for little dream.

Coincidence that after I had posted my message I thought I should have mentioned cardamom. It gives a delicious flavor to chai.
Shin, could you believe it that I have actually seen a Japanese tea ceremony. This was years back. We went to a museum and they had a real life Japanese tea ceremony that my family stood and watched. It was a slow ritual and the Japanese women sat on the floor and served tea. Every motion was extremely slow. Kind of how a sloth bear moves. Smiley Not meaning any disrespect to the Japanese, but my girl (teenager who was little then) got very impatient. But it looked very pretty. The women in their traditional clothes (is it the kimono?), and the tea cups and everything....
Brigid, I'm caught between two options. I'm thinking either dental asst. or alternative teacher's certification. The dental asst. course is attractive to me because there would be more job opportunities. But teaching would give me the same timings as the kids and summers with them. So I wouldn't be working while they were alone at home doing who knows what. I don't even have any family support to help us out. .  . The alternative teachers cert. is for those who already have a degree , so its should be about a year's course. The decision making is frustrating me. Huh?

Yes, that is how it is. . . slow. . ritual.

I can imagine the stillness and peace and harmony of the moment.. and the scent of tea.

. . . I can also imagine teenagers twitching. Smiley

Good Morning from England!
Today is another beautiful sunny day (but cold!) and the sunshine really lifts my spirits. Out and about this morning, I was noticing how many crocuses and snowdrops are blooming and looking very pretty. I am tired today as my eldest daughter and one year old grandson are with us for a few days and he's a live-wire! I was still tidying/vacuuming at 8pm last night after he went to bed!
Today I intend to go for a walk at lunchtime and enjoy the sunshine flower
I pray that you have a truly blessed day, offered to God through the intentions of Jesus & His Holy Mother!

Oh, and don't forget that cup of tea!

Good morning , Autumn Rose! Good morning, everyone on Saints forum! I look forward to your cup of tea every morning.
It is a nice and sunny day here too. Spring is here. I can hear the birds chirping and the trees are coming back to life. We saw a bird building a nest yesterday.
Its time to begin mowing lawns.
Have a blessed day , will talk to you later.

Well, how 'bout the cost difference for the education? Also, since you're not 20 anymore (but wiser! Wink) it is harder to get a job after 40-45 so that needs to be factored in. The care for your children is important (probably more so when they get to their teens Roll Eyes), however your being able to provide for them is paramount, as is the providing while you're in school. Question, what is an "alternative" teacher? As far as being free for summers, even when my mother and father taught, that was actually down to 2 mos. and I believe it's more like a month now of not needing to be there. shrug

I love spring!!!!

Well, as is often the case in the PNW (of the US), it's cloudy and the forecast even calls for snow - which won't stick as it's been too warm here. The flowers are coming out, but I haven't heard any birds yet. Should be soon tho', I hope. I live in an apt. so don't have to mow the lawn, however I kind of like doing it - the smell of new mown grass is so great!

I see a new chiropractor today. I do look forward to not hurting as much. Otherwise I'll be grocery shopping and housecleaning. Well, I'll feel that I've been virtuous when I finish. Grin

Autumn Rose??? I miss tea with you Sad

Good morning everyone!  Guess what? I mailed in my tax forms yesterday. My neighbour  helped me. It was simple and God guided me because I had all the right paper work. It looked like such a formidable task  all these days , but was not and I was worried for nothing. Thank you , Jesus and Mary!
