Title: Japan Post by: Brigid on March 11, 2011, 04:46:24 PM I think it's almost obvious that we need to pray for the poor souls of Japan. This earthquake and tsunami have left such devastation.
Hail Mary, full of Grace........... Title: Re: Japan Post by: Bailey2 on March 11, 2011, 06:02:57 PM ......... the Lord is with thee..... :+:

Title: Re: Japan Post by: Shin on March 12, 2011, 12:47:43 AM For what it's worth, there's a news report out that there's a serious possibility of a nuclear meltdown in Japan because of the quake.
Let's pray hard folks. . Title: Re: Japan Post by: Cat Herder on March 12, 2011, 01:23:13 AM Catholic Relief Services is having a collection for Japan and other countries affected by the tsunami. They will accept donations of any size by check or credit card, by phone or online. This would be a great way to use funds freed up by a Lenten penance.
I will be dedicating my Rosary to the disaster victims for the foreseeable future. Title: Re: Japan Post by: Shin on March 12, 2011, 07:27:46 AM It's looking worse there, there's been an explosion at one of the nuclear power plants. A cloud of smoke over it.
Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from the area. Title: Re: Japan Post by: Patricia on March 12, 2011, 10:00:19 AM Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us! :crucifix:
Title: Re: Japan Post by: Shin on March 12, 2011, 01:19:10 PM The Catholic News Agency is saying:
"The epicenter of the earthquake that caused a deadly March 11 tsunami is located near the site of an apparition in which Mary warned about a worldwide disaster that could afflict humanity." Other reports too say that the 8.9 magnitude earthquake is the most powerful to hit Japan in recorded history. But even worse are predicted by Our Lady of Akita. “If men do not repent and better themselves, God the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity,” Mary reportedly told Sr. Agnes. “If will be a punishment greater than the (biblical) flood, such as never seen before.” “Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful,” she said. “The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church, in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops.” “Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises, and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.” “Each day, recite the prayers of the Rosary,” she told Sr. Agnes. “With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.” The photos of the devastation in Japan are stirring. But: "Reports from Akita following Friday's earthquake indicate that the city received significantly less damage than other parts of northern Japan, despite its proximity to the epicenter." Other news is reporting: "The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis. "At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). . . The Japanese quake was of similar strength to the 2004 earthquake in Indonesia that triggered a tsunami that killed over 200,000 people in more than a dozen countries around the Indian Ocean. . . The Japanese quake comes just weeks after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch on February 22, toppling historic buildings and killing more than 150 people." Title: Re: Japan Post by: Patricia on March 14, 2011, 11:11:57 PM These images of Japan are horrifying. I can't bear to see them. It is as traumatic or even worse than WTC all over again. People wailing, utter destruction,...Lord have mercy! :'(
