Title: Prayer for the Day: Spiritual Communion Post by: Shin on March 26, 2011, 01:57:07 PM Act of Spiritual Communion
by St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori Jesus Christ my Savior, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Lord I am not worthy to receive you, But only say the word and I shall be healed. This precious prayer has just been printed out to be memorized and recited whenever I am not able to receive Holy Communion. God Bless! Title: Re: Prayer for the Day: Spiritual Communion Post by: Shin on March 27, 2011, 05:14:51 AM I pray you say it well, from the heart, and not too infrequently, ohdiambo!
Thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow. :D It's a true blessing to hear it! I bring this post forward to remind all of us of the current Church focus on the Eucharist, and also to remind and encourage myself to find a post I wrote on the biography of St Alphonsus which I wrote early in the summer from the book by Frs Miller and Aubin, CSSRs, which I brought to camp and am still reading. Title: Re: Prayer for the Day: Spiritual Communion Post by: eschator83 on September 15, 2024, 12:14:01 PM It seems too much Eschator here, and this last post is too old, but I haven't found my post on St Alphonsus, which said the first two chapters to chapters praising his youth and his mother's devotion were wonderful, but then the next several describing enormous tribulation, indecision, and opposition have been very difficult to read. I pray again to find the post, for encouragement and fortitude to keep reading, and for more prayers by others.
Title: Re: Prayer for the Day: Spiritual Communion Post by: CyrilSebastian on September 16, 2024, 07:01:32 PM God Alone Suffices I offer you, Lord, my thoughts: to be fixed on you; my words: to have you for their theme; my actions: to reflect my love for you; my sufferings: to be endured for your greater glory. I want to do what you ask of me: in the way you ask, for as long as you ask, because you ask it. I pray, Lord, that you enlighten my mind, inflame my will, purify my heart, and satisfy my soul. O Mary, Mother of God and my Mother, pray also to Jesus for me. Title: Re: Prayer for the Day: Spiritual Communion Post by: eschator83 on October 25, 2024, 10:26:40 AM These are wonderful prayers, and the intent to specifically pray daily for Spiritual Communion seems to be a wonderful inspiration. I offer the following from the book My Daily Bread, p245.
Lord, let Your Holy Grace fall on this sinful heart of mine, so that I may love most what is most lovable, know best what is most important, and desire first what is most valuable. Let me fear and hate whatever draws me away from You. I do not want to judge things as they appear, but as they really help me to please You more. Teach me to pray. Help me to love Your Company and to seek it as often as possible. Make me aware of Your Presence throughout the day. Amen |
