Title: Dolors of Mary Post by: Patricia on February 08, 2010, 11:06:04 AM “Jesus Christ Himself revealed to Blessed Veronica of Binasco,
that, He is more pleased in seeing His Mother compassionated than Himself.” He said to her: ‘My daughter, tears shed for My Passion are dear to Me; but as I loved My Mother Mary with an immense love, the meditation on the torments which She endured at My death is even more agreeable to Me.’ “Wherefore the graces promised by Jesus to those who are devoted to the dolors of Mary are very great.” Our Lady lamented to St. Bridget that very few consoled Her by meditating on Her Sorrows, and “that the greater part of the world lived in forgetfulness of them: ‘I look around at all who are on earth, to see if by chance there are any who pity Me, and meditate upon My Sorrows; and I find that there are very few. Therefore, My daughter, though I am forgotten by many, at least do you not forget Me; consider My anguish, and imitate, as far as you can, My grief.’ Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Consecrated one on February 08, 2010, 06:01:06 PM Hello,
I have a great love and affinity to Our Lady. I am Consecrated thru Her to Jesus, I pray the Rosary Daily and I pray the Little Office Nightly. That said, some people (like Me ) have a tendency to dwell on the sad, sorrowful, down right depressing parts of our Catholic faith rather than The Resurrection and the Good News. As we approach Lent, I would like to encourage each person to respect their own nature or personality type. When our family came back to the Church, a great little older guy that we knew welcomed us back and said something I really embraced - Holy Mother Church is a BIG ocean with room enough for every one. :angelblue: I do care for our Lady and Her Sorrows, she knows I do. I guess I just want to support anyone who isn't ready for some of the Sorrowful parts, or to much depth. Peace be with you. :+: Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Brigid on February 08, 2010, 06:34:11 PM Hello, I have a great love and affinity to Our Lady. Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Consecrated one on February 08, 2010, 06:55:06 PM The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, right?
That's why I enjoy it so much! :+: It is full of joyous and tender Psalms. :angelblue: Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Brigid on February 08, 2010, 07:04:08 PM The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, right? (There are some older and newer versions due to the recent Motus Proprio is all, which is why I differentiated.) The Little Office starts my day off right. Later, I do my Rosary, though I haven't seen the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Consecrated one on February 08, 2010, 07:24:02 PM I have a very beautiful crystal bead chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of our Lady. I don't want
it. I never asked for it. It would not be healthy in my prayer life. It is very pretty and comes with a pamphlet on prayer. If you would promise to include me in your prayer when you pray it (this is what I was told by the person who gave it to me), I would love to send it to you! If you really wanted it? Contact me if you would like to work something out. Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Shin on February 08, 2010, 11:22:09 PM “Jesus Christ Himself revealed to Blessed Veronica of Binasco, that, He is more pleased in seeing His Mother compassionated than Himself.” He said to her: ‘My daughter, tears shed for My Passion are dear to Me; but as I loved My Mother Mary with an immense love, the meditation on the torments which She endured at My death is even more agreeable to Me.’ “Wherefore the graces promised by Jesus to those who are devoted to the dolors of Mary are very great.” Our Lady lamented to St. Bridget that very few consoled Her by meditating on Her Sorrows, and “that the greater part of the world lived in forgetfulness of them: ‘I look around at all who are on earth, to see if by chance there are any who pity Me, and meditate upon My Sorrows; and I find that there are very few. Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Patricia on January 17, 2012, 07:08:05 PM Something to ponder upon and compassionate Our Blessed Mother about..... In his sermon our parish priest told us that tradition (with a lower case 't') has it that when Our Lady was presented the myrrh by the Wise men she preserved it for 33 years and used it at the burial of Her Son, Our Lord. :crucifix:
Title: Re: Dolors of Mary Post by: Shin on January 19, 2012, 10:28:15 PM Hopefully we will soon have a page dedicated to the seven dolors Patricia. :D
The Seven Dolors September's golden grain doth wave, O'er fields all ripe for reaper's scythe ; The hunter's moon with silver laves The earth — and nature's voice is blithe But minor strains are in our hearts, As mem'ry wakens o'er and o'er, The thought of sorrow's seven darts Which she the Queen of Martyrs bore. The grave and gay doth nature blend, 'Mid storm and sunshine life is passed ; And so the Passion tide doth send Its shadow even to the last. The glorious autumn has its shade. As well as spring time, glad and bright; The shadow of the cross is laid In "pearly dawn" and evening light. And eyes of love can e'er discern. The form of her to sorrow wed; Beneath the cross, and from her learn. The story of her sorrow dread. Whose hand hath sent the cruel dart. So keen, so cold, with aim so sure? Ah ! your's and mine transfixed the heart Of Mater Dolorosa pure. Be ours the oil to heal her wounds, Be ours the wine to give her strength ; Be ours the voice that ever sounds In love and pity, till at length, The cruel swords of sorrow deep, Our love will draw from out her breast ; And there in peace and joy we'll weep, With Mater Dolorosa rest. - Dolores, New York. |
