Title: Quote for the Day: To Confound Evil Men
Post by: Shin on August 28, 2011, 02:40:52 PM
'Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it; and indeed to neglect to confound evil men, when we can do it, is no less a sin than to encourage them.'

Pope St. Felix III

An error I find common today is the notion that God is so merciful that He will not permit anyone to fall into hell; that we can live whatever way we chose and when we die we simply waltz on into heaven. When I try to explain to certain members of family that God first requires sincere repentance in order that we can obtain forgiveness, well, it's like I had just renounced the faith.  Replies range from. "God's mercy is infinite and who are you to judge what God will or won't do?" to, "Well then the God you believe in is not the same God that I believe in."    I actually agree with the last statement.  :-\
