Title: Quote for the Day: The grace to work for. . .
Post by: Shin on September 03, 2011, 12:34:00 PM
'O Lord, give us a mind that is humble, quiet, peaceable, patient and charitable, and a taste of your Holy Spirit in all our thoughts, words, and deeds.

O Lord, give us a lively faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love of you. Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation and all dullness in prayer. Give us fervor and delight in thinking of you, your grace, and your tender compassion toward us. Give us, good Lord, the grace to work for the things we pray for.'

St. Thomas More

I seem to be getting this message a lot. If I pray for something I must take an active step towards it. I think the Lord waits to see how serious I am before He dispenses the grace to make it possible.
Prayer, Study and action. All three together. A bit like, Faith without works being a dead faith.
Ah dear Lord, keep us from all luke warmess. All our rest is in the next Life.   :D :principalities:

The Prayer of Saint Ignatius Loyola comes to mind.

Teach us, Good Lord,
To Serve Thee as Thou deservest;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To labor and seek for no reward,
save that of knowing we do Thy will.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord,   Amen.   :+:
