What would you say if I said I knew a way to guarantee additional happiness in your life..

What? You sound like a used car salesman? A cheap appliance door to door salesman? A life insurance salesman? What? No!

No I truly mean it. It worked for me. And I'm not selling anything.

What? You don't have to do anything then?

No of course you have to do something. You have to be happy for one thing. But something else to.

It is a prayer I know that if you put a little work into memorize, you will be happier, I guarantee it. And it's not just mine, it is Heaven's guarantee, so..

Oh, are you interested now? Do you think you can remember this prayer?

Well I will tell you if you want to know. It is not too hard to memorize.. in fact you have to memorize it, you can't just pray it from the paper.. oh it works then too but. .

I mean happiness in a large way.. and in this life too some of it.. so.. you have to memorize it.. there are other reasons too.. they are secret.. it's like the secret ingredients..

Well, if you are interested let me know. I will tell you the prayer.

If you have all the happiness you need and even some extra does not tempt you, well please share some of it here. :)

ok, I'm curious (I even enjoy talking to the Morman missionaries that frequent the area, too ;D). Could it be the Pater Noster?

Oh that's a beautiful prayer too.. :) Any prayer can guarantee happiness.. said well you know.. I have a specific one in mind.. And I will give you a hint..

You were partly right each time.. The prayer has the Our Father and Hail Mary in it as a part of it.. :)

And before you say it.. no, I am not thinking of the rosary this time.. though that prayer too can bring you much happiness.. :)

Ah... how about The Franciscan Crown or the Seven Sorrows of Mary Rosary? ???

Well, I suppose I could say it now.  :D If you really want to know.

But I have to put a disclaimer on it, if you really want it to work you have to try to remember it, to memorize it. That's the best way to go about it.  

Guaranteed happiness. This prayer makes all the angels very happy.  O:)  And it definitely rubs off.

You know I was reading a passage in Ezekiel the other day where the Lord wrote a riddle about an eagle.. and I thought..

The Lord does love allegories and imagery and symbolism that which makes you think and have to figure it out!

I was thinking of the 'Angelus', but it doesn't have the Pater Noster in it. I also thought of Isaiah 40:51, but it has neither the Pater Noster or the Ave in it.

It's a very angel pleasing devotion.. with Our Fathers.. Hail Maries.. and beads..

This prayer is a wonderful prayer to memorize.. let me tell you this is part of the secret of it..

You take it line by line.. say the first line, or the first three lines.. however much you can handle..

And say them over and over again before you go to bed, to drill them down.. make the associations.. look at the key words.. the order..

And truly pray it each time you repeat it while memorizing it.. that's the key..

Step by step.. night by night..

Vicky, I'm sure you've experienced the paranoia that goes with the severest depression side of Bipolar and when I was feeling really paranoid, besides saying the St. Michael Prayer all the time and going to bed with my Rosary, I had EWTN on all night, and here Mother Angelica saying the St. Michael Chaplet comes on at one of the deepest parts of the night so even in my sleep I was hearing it. It was so soothing for me and allowed me to get some sleep (I must admit, Fr. Pacwa leading the Rosary around 4:30 am didn't hurt either). ;)

Actually I've never been paranoid or suffered much depression at all.  I'm  your basic raving Maniac! :cheers:   I think it's very sweet of you to try and share something that's been of help to you.  That's what we're all here for and I thank you very much. :angelblue:

Tell that to my husband, my daughter, 27 different employers! :biggrin:  I had a good time for a while (the first 20 yrs) but hit the wall :brickwall: Now my doctors medicate me until I"m only awake 11 hrs. a day.  It's my cross for Christ. He's worth any sacrefice. :angelbell: I sacrefice my life.  :+: I will have a shorter life but I won't be insane.  Speaking of insane - I have a question - My parish puts out:  a cat of nine tails, 8 inch nails, a mallet,  3 ft, 4' long crown of thorns.  I think this is excessive and not good for children or me. What do I do? Go to a different Parish? But my daughter needs to be a the Sadistic one for Confirmation?  Tricky situation, totally fires up my mania, didn't even sleep last night!

Well.. I think you have to weigh it against the virtues of any new parish and the problems of losses from moving from one to the other. If it weighs sufficiently badly, that is that.. but I think that unlikely and you will simply have to be thought police the more!

Being our own thought and feeling police is part of becoming holier!  :D

For me, a parish that displays the instruments of the Passion is a good thing. There are ways to think about them properly, we have to build up the habit of proper mental and feeling associations and break the habit of improper ones.

The devils will try to make us retain the bad.. and as we grow in discernment we learn what is from us and what is from them.. and so how to cope.. :)

If you had children, perhaps?  It is horrifying.

What do they do with it exactly, display it? Sell it?

We're here for you and want to do what is loving for you. We mess that up sometimes, but we're trying. I'm so sorry you feel so badly. Try huddling up on Mommy Mary's (that's what my granddaughter calls the BVM) lap and under her mantle, even when you're being pulled all sorts of ways by your family and all. Whenever you're feeling terrible, just think of Our Mother and say, "Help" and she will. Know that we are all pulling and praying for you're load. :+: :+:

So it's the St. Michael Chaplet . I began writing it down in my diary and never finished it. Now I will since happiness is guaranteed :D Here is the history of the Chaplet as I noted it down...

The history of this Chaplet goes back to a devout Servant of God, Antonia d'Astonac, who had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels.
St. Michael promised that whoever practiced this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine choirs. In addition, for those souls who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.

I have never prayed the St. Michael chaplet...even though I have one hanging around the house somewhere that I picked up from a thrift store because it was such an interesting find. Terrible, I know! I'll have to give it a try!

O do try it, even only once, it's splendid. I know it too well, God forgive me, how good it is, though I too rarely say it.
