Title: North Dakota Post by: Patricia on March 18, 2013, 10:13:09 PM I just read that North Dakota is looking at banning all abortions and defining life from the moment of conception. O:) What is the reason for N Dakota being different from the rest of the country?

Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: Patricia on March 19, 2013, 06:07:08 PM According to news reports I read that North Dakota approved 'heartbeat' abortion ban, wherein they have banned abortions when the baby's heartbeat is first heard as early as 6 weeks. The bill will also ban abortions based on genetic abnormalies and sex-selection based abortions . The bill will be received by the Republican governor who has not yet signed it into law. He will look at the bills on Monday. :crucifix:

All I know about North Dakota is that I hear it's the best place for employment in the U.S. A lot of hard working people out there no doubt! Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: Patricia on March 21, 2013, 09:49:38 AM I'm wondering if there is a big Catholic presence in N Dakota and if that helped the pro life movement in any way?
Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: Shin on March 21, 2013, 10:08:20 AM I don't know. Be nice if it were. :D
I've been thinking of moving back to where my family came from originally, out in PA. There're a number of churches out there, where mass would be more convenient and with both daily Latin and Byzantine masses not far away. I'd really treasure that. The area's a bit depressed though. If I were more adventurous I'd consider moving farther out to unfamiliar areas, trying to find the best Catholic enclave possible. Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: George on March 21, 2013, 02:43:07 PM OK, I have too much time on my hands ;D,
I looked up Catholics in North Dakota, according to the site I found it states there are 149,316 Catholics in ND. at 23.5% of the pop. The bill is being furiously opposed by the usual suspects; planned parenthood, ACLU, and so on. It's getting ugly, went to a couple sites and I got creeped out. God forgive me my anger and revulsion. You started me thinking about looking for a traditional mass out here, and I found one 30 min. away. you must wear a suit jacket and proper footwear and women must be veiled and wear modest clothing, no slacks, no shorts nor sleeveless dresses. I'm going to see if my wife would like to go, she does all the driving, but I'm very interested. Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: Shin on March 21, 2013, 03:19:59 PM 30 minutes away is pretty good George. :D
Prayers for it! :crucifix: Title: Re: North Dakota Post by: Patricia on March 21, 2013, 10:09:11 PM Not a bad percentage. I wonder if that percentage helps the pro life movement in any way?? ???
George, I hope you can make it to Mass with your wife. Is it a CAtholic traditional Mass or the SSPX? |
