Title: Reading for Lent, Books, Reparation, Meditations. . .
Post by: Shin on March 03, 2014, 10:30:48 PM
 :crucifix:

We have some fine featured books on Saints' Books (http://saintsbooks.net/BooksList.html#Featured%20Books) for Lent for those looking for reading material.

Meditations from St. Thomas Aquinas, and further meditations from another author. . .

St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori's 'Preparation for Death' is especially helpful during this penitential season.

Whatever extra penitential practices folks take up, consider these fine books (http://saintsbooks.net/BooksList.html#Featured%20Books) and more.

Also, on the vigil before Lent begins there have become customary sinful practices in the world.

Christians must be careful not to be persuaded to join these, and instead consider the following words of Our Lord to St. Gertrude the Great and St. Mechtilde on:

Reparation for Carnival
 (http://saintsworks.net/Pamphlet%20-%20Reparation%20for%20Carnival%20or%20Mardi%20Gras.htm)

May everyone have a very holy and penitential Lent, and gain in the virtues surrounding mortification and penance.

Lent is the time of year to gain new strength in fortitude and penitential practice.

Lent is arriving again!

Have you decided on a devotion and/or a sacrifice for the season?

Why not try one of the Meditations for Lent books in Saints' Books?

Let's all pray we have a very holy and virtuous Lent.

That's a good suggestion.  I'm going to try Saint Thomas' meditations, although I notice that the saint didn't wait for me and I had to skip over 2 1/2 weeks of readings to get to today's meditation for Ash Wednesday. It was worth reading and thinking about.  Thanks for uploading the book.

Five years later, and I never got more than a few days into the Angelic doctor's meditations before getting distracted. Thank you, Shin, for keeping the website going long enough that I can begin again. Diligence is a virtue, or so I've heard.

May God bless us with a holy and fruitful Lent.

Deo gratias. It's good to see you Spearmus!

I pray you too have a splendid Lent.

Does it not seem utterly incredible that we are back to this time of year so quickly?  Deo gratias, and may we do better this year than last.
