Title: Re: Saint Laszlo (Laszlo I) Post by: eschator83 on June 09, 2022, 11:56:56 AM According to McBrien's Lives of Popes, the first Saint formally canonized by a Pope was St Ulric of Augsburg in 993, by Pope John XV. Most of my Saint history notes are at home (and I'm at camp), but it's my impression that early Saints were all Christians, then martyrs began to be recognized by Bishops and elders, and saints were frequently recognized by public acclaim. I pray others will comment further on subsequent, related Papal Decretals.

He was not even a cardinal, a bishop, or a priest. Title: Re: Saint Laszlo (Laszlo I) Post by: CyrilSebastian on August 20, 2024, 06:30:19 PM King Laszlo I imprisoned former King Solomon of Hungary.
