Title: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: Shin on October 02, 2014, 10:06:00 PM I would like to remind folks of this beautiful prayer.
The Chaplet of St. Michael The history of this Chaplet goes back to a devout Servant of God, Antonia d'Astonac, who had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be. . . I. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . II. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . III. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Thrones may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . IV. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Dominions may the Lord give us grace to govern our senses and overcome any unruly passions. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . V. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Powers may the Lord protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . VI. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Virtues may the Lord preserve us from evil and falling into temptation. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . VII. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Principalities may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . VIII. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Archangels may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works in order that we may attain the glory of Heaven. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . IX. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Angels may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted in the life to come to Heaven. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary. . . In Honor of St. Michael, Our Father. . . St. Gabriel, Our Father. . . St. Raphael, Our Father. . . Our Guardian Angel, Our Father. . . Concluding Prayers O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises. Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: Shin on October 02, 2014, 10:08:36 PM And also please do not forget this beautiful book:
Henri Marie Bouden - Devotion to the Nine Choirs of Holy Angels (http://www.saintsbooks.net/books/Henri%20Marie%20Bouden%20-%20tr.%20E.H.%20Thompson%20-%20Devotion%20to%20the%20Nine%20Choirs%20of%20Holy%20Angels.pdf) 'I know of a holy community of Carmelite nuns, where every month they select one of the nine choirs of holy angels to pay it particular honour; and as three months remain of the twelve, these three months are devoted to one of the choirs towards which they feel more particularly drawn; as, for instance, that of the Seraphim. My dear readers, it is in your power to do the very same thing; the practice is an easy one.' Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: odhiambo on October 03, 2014, 05:12:43 AM Thanks for this reminder. We last discussed it about this time last year. I remember because I had taken up the prayer devotion but was unable to continue with it.

Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: whiterockdove on December 23, 2014, 03:01:40 AM St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the snares and wickedness of the devil, May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, o prince of the heavenly host, through the power of God, Cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl the earth for the ruin of souls. (For who are like you into God?) Amen! That last sentence I have not seen seen written anywhere, but is said after Mass at Our Lady Of Good Council, Westport, KC. A beautiful Church with a fantastic noon mass :) :crucifix: Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: Shin on December 24, 2014, 02:00:11 AM It's a splendid prayer and chaplet! It has to be prayed often!
Do you know what St. Michael's name means? :cherubim: Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: whiterockdove on December 24, 2014, 01:43:39 PM Isn't it something like: "one who is like God"?
( and I meant unto not into God) ::) Typing with 1finger on an ancient iPod browser can be interesting! :D If that is the case, then the way the folks at Our Lady Of Good Council Council recite it is extra special! :crucifix: :seraphim: :angelyellow: :angelbell: :principalities: :harp: Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: Shin on January 03, 2015, 04:58:04 AM Generally I hear it is considered a question yes - 'Who is like unto God?'
Which I have heard as a quote attributed to him during the time the angels were tested and Satan's rebellion. :D :angelblue: :angelyellow: :cherubim: :seraphim: :cherubim: :angelyellow: :angelblue: Title: Re: Chaplet of St. Michael Post by: whiterockdove on January 26, 2015, 03:37:56 AM :angryred: :swordfight: :+: :angelbell: :seraphim:
