The veil concealed the Holy of Holies from the people. Because of original sin it was very difficult to get close to God. His presence had to be covered by a veil. The veil also represents the shroud that covered jesus. When Jesus rose form the dead there was no more need for a burial shroud.

From your response it is clear that it started where the Old one ended, that is from the death of Our Lord |
