Simple DIY Laundry Detergent Recipe

Ingredients

    1 bar shaved bar soap
    1 cup borax

This is a good recipe, a friend of mine gave me a similar recipe. She also adds a cup of vinegar to her wash water because our water out here is very hard and she does not have a water softener.  If you can find fels-naphtha brand or kirks Castile for your bar soap, those are very good. She adds some citronella oil to batches that she uses on  outside work clothes and she  thinks it helps repel Mosquitos.

I've heard of those soaps!

I add a cup of vinegar sometimes too! It helps esp. now, since I haven't hooked up the dryer yet -- if the clothes go out on the line and they take awhile to dry, the vinegar prevents them from getting a bit smelly from being damp too long.
