Post by: Shin on October 22, 2015, 04:41:56 PM Regarding St. Lappan, I looked him up and he is hard to find information about, I will look further!
So far I think he is from the 8th century Ireland, based on one parish showing him as the founder in Donore in the 8th century. I also found another Irish saint described as a son of 'Lappani' perhaps an alternative name spelling? It would be good to know those to possibly find out more! Are you from Ireland Tom? :irishwisdom: Title: Re: Saint Lappan. Information please. Post by: Shin on October 22, 2015, 05:28:18 PM A little more information, an archaelogical journal snippet:
'Little Island is called in Tax. 1199 Killaspuglappan, Cill-earpug-Lappain, "church of bishop Lappan." Possibly he may be Russin, son of Lappan, who died bishop of Cork 7th April, 685. Lappan is called saint in three entries quoted by Dr. Brady from Diocesan Register.' - Local Names, The Northern Parishes of Cork Diocese This date is earlier than the 8th century, but it gives us the info about a St. Lappan who is a bishop.
