Title: Blessed Lorenzo Salvi

Lorenzo Salvi was born in Rome in 1782.   
His father, Antonio Salvi, ran the estate of one of the most prominent families in Rome.   
Lorenzo was educated by private tutors from Palazzo Carpegna. He studied at the Collegioi Romano.

Lorenzo attended the Oratory of San Francesco Saverio del Caravita,     
founded by the Jesuits. At the Oratory he became deeply devoted to Mary.

Lorenzo Salvi was steadfast in promoting prayerful devotion to the holy childhood of Jesus.

Lorenzo Salvi professed his vows on November 20, 1802.   
He received the religious name of Lorenzo Maria of Saint Francis Xavier.

Lorenzo was ordained to the priesthood on December 29, 1805 just after Christmas in Rome.

Domenic Barbieri sought the superior general's permission to send Salvi to England because of the strength of   
his preaching and his leadership ability within the Passionist community. Permission was denied.

Lorenzo Salvi was made the rector of the Passionist motherhouse in Rome (Sante Giovanni e Paolo).
