Title: St. Osmund of Salisbury

St. Osmund of Salisbury was a Norman noble and clergyman.     
He was the son of Henry, Count of Seez and Isabella.   
Isabella was a daughter of Duke Robert of Normandy.     
Robert was the father of William the Conqueror (King William I of England).

Osmund accompanied William the Conqueror to England. Osmund was made Chancellor of the realm about 1070.

John Delaney wrote that St Osmund was named Bishop of Salisbury in 1078 by King William (?).  His canonization as Saint in 1457 was the last for an English Saint until SS John More and Fisher in 1935.

Osmund was an appointee of King William I (William the Conqueror). He became Bishop of Salisbury by     
the authority of Pope Gregory VII.

Osmund was one of the Chief Commissioners for drawing up the Domesday Book.

St. Osmund initiated some revisions to the extant Celtic-Anglo-Saxon rite.
