Title: St. Pachomius
Post by: CyrilSebastian on March 30, 2020, 08:51:39 PM

St. Pachomius was born about 292 in the Upper Thebaid in Egypt.
He was inducted into the Emperor's army as a twenty-year-old.
The great kindness of Christians at Thebes toward the soldiers became embedded
in his mind and led to his conversion after his discharge.

St. Pachomus was able to leave the army without ever having to fight.
He was converted and baptized in 314.

St. Pacomius used to pray continuously that God's Will might be done in him.
After a period of time, while he was keeping vigil and praying for this,
an Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said:
"God's Will is for you to serve Him and reconcile the human race to God."
After saying this three times, he departed from Pachomius.

One of Pachomius' devotions was praying with his arms stretched out in the form of a cross.
