Title: Need prayers
Post by: Patricia on January 21, 2010, 11:47:01 AM
Please remember my family during your Rosary. I just lost my husband . I have four children to raise and since I was a house wife all these years have to look for a job and think of a career to begin. I need more strength than ever.  I don't have a family around to help me. I pray God sends me a job that will help us and also not let me neglect my children in any way!

Dear Patricia,

You have my prayers! And more!

I will remember you before the Eucharist today.

May God give you the strength and may His angel lead you to the place you need.

Have faith! With it you will find what you need, I know!

I just read a book about a young woman in the Rwandan genocide.. she had nothing at all, her house destroyed, her family gone.. but because she had faith, she prayed and she thought ahead of how to do what she needed to do, with confidence, trust and persistence, she found a good job that allowed her to care for her fellow refugees, and begin her life again. Where-ever you are, God can help you and loves you and your family.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

What you are doing puts my difficulties in perspective! I will continue to pray for you.

Thank you, Shin and Brigid, for your prayers. I know I need it .
Shin, I read that book too. The woman is Immaculee.  Amazing faith and courage! To lose your loving family to senseless violence and still rise above it all is surely the grace of God. She forgave the killers. I forget the name of the book. My husband had bought it for me and I passed it on to my brother in India.

We need your prayers. Thank you. Its a terrible time we are going through. I just hope all of us make it through this dark valley . Relying on God's grace. But God has his plan and that's what I think. But it still is painful.

Thanks! :) That I may be given wisdom to make big decisions that I've never made before, to be the breadwinner ??? and to raise 4 kids including a crazy teenager  :boggles: God probably sent this cross knowing its the right size for me. God probably trusts me more that I trust myself.

That is the truth! So much of what we do is hampered by our own worries - God is willing to open the way!

Be brave!

How are you managing Patricia?

I just read a person praising and thanking the Blessed Virgin for finding him a job, and thanking her for her Miraculous Medal.

Perhaps we should start a Miraculous Medal Novena?

I don't know what that is, or how to do it, but I would really like
to participate for Patricia, especially. :+:

You are so concerned and kind. I'm managing fine for now with survivors benefits , but cant live on that forever. Have to work which is difficult without any work experience. But I've applied for temporary  positions in schools , so it will give me some confidence in the work place. Hope something comes my  way what with this bad economy.

What really gets me is doing the bills, calling people on phone, getting things fixed , things I never did before :( But I'm learning. Now I truly appreciate what my husband did all the time for us.

What's the Miraculous Medal novena? I'll start it.

There's a lot about the Miraculous Medal here. (http://www.amm.org/medal.asp) :)

Here, let's start this. It's the same prayer day by day. I'm sure it'll help.   :D

Novena of the Miraculous Medal

O Immaculate Virgin Mary,
Mother of Our Lord Jesus and our Mother,
penetrated with the most lively confidence in your all-powerful and never-failing intercession, manifested so often through the Miraculous Medal,
we your loving and trustful children implore you to obtain for us the graces and favors we ask during this novena,
if they be beneficial to our immortal souls,
and the souls for whom we pray.

(Here form your petition) [For the Lord's will, especially for Patricia's intentions]

You know, O Mary, how often our souls have been the sanctuaries of your Son who hates iniquity.
Obtain for us then a deep hatred of sin and that purity of heart which will attach us to God alone so that our every thought, word and deed may tend to His greater glory.

Obtain for us also a spirit of prayer and self-denial that we may recover by penance what we have lost by sin and at length attain to that blessed abode where you are the Queen of angels and of men.

Amen.

I just found this thread.  My prayers are with you.  I don't know the novena but I will pray for the intercession of Elizabeth Ann Seton, who lost her husband when she had 5 young children.

Isn't that wonderful.  She is my all time favorite Saint.  After her husband died, she converted to Catholicism and in doing so lost ALL family support.  Eventually she had to move away from NYC where she had lived all her life because of the bad feelings re: her conversion.  So, no husband, 5 children and as a woman in the 1790's, no money.   She lived very poorly the rest of her life but she made new friends, grew closer to God, and the rest is history!
I will pray for you.  You are a very strong person.  Even in your first post, I was impressed by your concern for the next step rather than wishing for what was...... In fact, I was amazed by it.  I would be wallowing.  God must be strong inside you.  Continued prayers.

Yup - that way it doesn't slip back and forth like it does when just "looped" on it. I don't need to sew all of it, just the clasp part - like a clothing hook. Same with any other medal I wear on it (except others I sew onto the back part of the Scapular). Since I'm 5'8" and none of the scapular cords are long enough - during the summer I sew extra pieces of cord in, too. That way it rarely shows even after I move (summer clothes are hard to get that don't scoop farther, although I refuse to get anything that shows anything below about 5" below my neck so way above anything - the percentage of Catholics that even know what a Scapular is in this area in very, very small, and most people I run into are protestant, at best, so they think it is a "Life Alert" type gadget ::)).

I'll sew it in. Apart from this, my only thought is that if I get into an accident I wouldn't want them to remove my scapular and would they do it if it has metal on it? ???

And apart from this I don't understand why Shin finds this so funny? :)

Depending on the problem, I believe. If the problem is (for ex.) a broken ankle then they probably wouldn't, but if their is a problem within the chest area, they probably would.

Probably because it usually isn't mentioned (the likeness).

At my local parish recently they put out a stack of little cards that say, 'I am a Catholic, in case of emergency contact: with listings for family members, doctors and priest and a lovely holy picture.'

I must remember to fill it out! If I had a laminator I'd laminate it so it would be more resilient too.

Hmm.. I wonder if that's something I can have done here someday.

I do sometimes try to think of inexpensive 'donation gifts' to encourage and give to people to donate. There are many good printing services out there that will prepare whatever you design for them.

Well, as I figure it out!

Dear Patricia, I pray you continue to place all your confidence in the Lord, surrendered completely to his merciful love.  May his loving providence meet your every need and may our loving Mother's prayers help you and your children in every aspect of your lives.  You and your children will be in my daily my rosaries, Masses and adorations.  May God always protect and provide for you and your children, both spiritually and temporally.  May you keep his peace in the depths of your souls; and pray, hope and don't worry.  (St. Padre Pio tells us to pray, hope and don't worry.)  Amen.
