Title: Ancient Hebrew Styles of Writing
Post by: CyrilSebastian on September 01, 2021, 07:13:12 PM
Approximately 75% of the Tenach is poetry.
The Tenach is the Old Testament.
All of Psalms and Proverbs are Hebrew poetry.
The Book of Genesis is full of poetry.
Much of the Torah was sung.
It was easier to sing also.
Poetry and songs were easier to memorize than straight texts.

Parallelism
Parallelism is most commonly found in the Book of Psalms and the Book of Proverbs.
Parallelism is the expression of one idea in two or more different ways.

Psalm 119 Verse 105 is a simple parallel.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
The above example can be written as:
Your word is:
1 a lamp to my feet
2 a light for my path
