Title: Prayer for me
Post by: eschator83 on January 11, 2023, 01:08:14 PM
Two years ago I decided to be tested by the geriatric psychiatric section of a local hospital for dementia, because I'd worried that I have some similar characteristics to my mother who had been diagnosed with very serious dementia.  The long report has several errors, and is difficult to understand, but says I had only some moderate cognitive deterioration and now they want to retest me.  I'm afraid I'm getting depressed about all this and other concerns, and they prescribed a drug that worries me and which I haven't yet taken.  I haven't yet brought this up with our parish priest and feel strangely blocked.  Please pray for me.

My deepest sympathies my friend. You have my prayers for your needs.

Alzheimers runs in my family and my mother has been concerned about her short term memory for awhile now. I am always praying about this kind of thing that it may pass from her. I pray too that the cross of cognitive difficulties and dementia passes from you.

May the Lord have mercy upon mercy through His Passion and Death upon us poor sinners.  :crucifix:

May the Lord shine His Face upon us and grant us healing, comfort and peace.

Amen.

Several of my friends like to remind me that doctors are only practicing medicine (ie they don't really do any).  That assessment may be a bit harsh, but I worry that they are getting less available and delegating a lot more to PAs and nurses.  Last month my CPC recommended me to urgent care for some kind of large oval red irritation on my back.  I was given a few of two different pills and told to come back if there were no improvement, and the rash was slowly getting smaller, but I was feeling worse with fever, dizziness, cough. and more.  Again, CPC recommended urgent care, but ED (why do we call it ER so frequently-is this ancient habit?) was closer, I was worried about covid, my heart, and more, and they admitted me for three days.  Diagnosis on discharge was that I had Lyme disease, but not a recent infection, probably sometime the last few years, and it has been affecting me irregularly ever since, possibly even giving rise to my symptoms of MCI.  They gave me a big dose of antibiotics for Lime primarily, although it is reportedly seldom ever fully cured, and the rash has not yet been diagnosed, but thanks to God and med staff I am feeling much better.
