Title: Windows 11, AI and Copilot Post by: eschator83 on July 27, 2024, 09:51:58 AM All summer I've been fretting about finding a new computer, finding how to move around what's stored in the cloud, and a host of sub issues. My kids and my wife apparently got so sick of my muddling around they bought one for me as an early, surprise birthday present. The good news is I don't need to worry quite so much about the old laptop crashing abruptly (I hope and pray). On the other hand, now I have to work on the long list of projects I was mostly just worrying about all summer. I pray some of you might consider fielding a question or two. More good news is that my new Lenovo with Win 11 seems much faster in almost every respect than the old HP with Win 10, probably because my Ram increased from 4GB to 12. Also, it seems the data transfer/duplication process (which MS referred to as backing up) seemed very fast and easy, except it may only have moved my Cloud data. Does it seem reasonable that I'll have to use an external drive, or the cloud, or link the two computers to move other data? What would you choose?

By the way when is the day my friend? I pray you have a splendid one! To move data from one to the other, I think I would use a thumb drive in such a case. It would be pretty simple to just swap it from one to the other computer to the other. Of course there are plusses and minuses to the various methods, it can be more convenient to have access over the internet as well. You somehow found the birthday, but I don't see it when I look at my profile (and that's OK with me). Can it be you have an older form of profile that I don't even remember? I must try to remember about curiosity killing the cat. I am using WIN 11 and my son moved most files with a new cloud-based backup procedure that seems to have worked pretty well and very easily, except for old docs with old font styles. But that was also a problem back in Win !0.
The paragraph above is flashing blue with a pop-up message proposing to have Copilot rewrite it for me. Thank you, no. please pray for me. |
