Title: warning against lying
Post by: curious on June 04, 2025, 03:15:36 PM
Also before I forget I found this Catholic dogma
According to the National Catholic Register, one of the nine sins of the tongue is the lying tongue, which is defined as speaking falsehoods with the intention of misleading others. Proverbs 12:22 says that the Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. Proverbs 26:28 says that a lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin. All liars have their place in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). You should also note that the devil is the father of liars.

Also dont forget Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

If only the world takes this to heart................................

More warnigs against lies deception and falsehood

Yes, in many interpretations of Christianity, the Bible describes Satan as a liar and the source of deception.
Here's how this understanding is often explained:
"Father of Lies": Jesus refers to Satan as "a liar and the father of lies" in John 8:44. This suggests that deception is inherent to his character and a fundamental aspect of his being.
The Deception in Eden: The story of the Serpent (often understood as Satan) tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden is the first example of deception attributed to him. By twisting God's words and sowing doubt, he led Adam and Eve to disobey God, resulting in the fall of humanity.
Ongoing Deception: Throughout the Bible, Satan is depicted as an adversary who uses lies and falsehoods to mislead people and prevent them from embracing the truth of the Gospel. He is described as the "god of this age" who blinds the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the Gospel.
Strategies of Deception: Satan employs various tactics to deceive, including:
False doctrines: He promotes false teachings and ideologies that contradict God's Word.
Masquerading as an angel of light: He can present himself in a way that appears good or righteous, but is actually deceptive.
Using signs and wonders: Satan can perform seemingly miraculous acts to mislead people and gain their trust.
Promoting vanity, flattery, and blasphemy: These actions can be used to distract people from focusing on God and His truth.
Introducing doubt and fear: He works to make people question God's goodness and promises.
In summary, the concept of Satan as the source of lies and falsehoods is a central theme in many interpretations of Christian theology, supported by various biblical passages that highlight his deceptive nature and influence in the world.
