A Marian Prayer of St. Germanus
(A.D. 576) (Bishop of Auxerre)

Who could know God,
if it were not for you,
most holy Mary?
Who could be saved?
Who would be preserved from dangers?
Who would receive any grace,
if it were not for you,
Mother of God,
full of grace?

What hope could we have of salvation
if you were to abandon us,
O Mary,
who are the life of Christians?

She who bore Christ in this world so bears Him to us.

Thank you, Shin. I picked this prayer for my R.E. class tomorrow as opening prayer after the 3 Hail Marys.  :crucifix: I'm thinking of teaching them about necessity of prayer, Sacraments, Sacramentals etc. Homework will be to research the holy Rosary and share facts about the Rosary  next week in class :)  Please pray that I do a good job of teaching.  :-[ Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

It went well ( I think  ::) ). I prayed to St. Anthony Mary Claret before the class because I was very nervous before it, but once the class began, I think it went pretty well. The children look bored so I'm hoping to get them interested in the Saints as time goes on. I got them to read a brief life story of St. Leopoldo Mandic and his incredible work in the confessional. They read about how his confessional was spared the bombs after his death though the church was destroyed. They also read one Eucharistic miracle that I printed out about the miraculous cure of Gabriel Gargam, a 30-year-old post office express clerk, while the Blessed Sacrament passed by in a procession.
To make sure they were listening I asked them questions about the stories and those who answered got tickets. ( I'm planning to make the prizes more enticing next time like prayer cards, candy etc )  I was surprised about the details they remembered.
We talked about Confession. Many of them never go to confession.  :(  I read out catechism questions on Confession which I found on Our Lady of the Rosary library and many of them were eager to answer and know the answers to those questions.  For e.g I asked them 
What kind of sorrow do you have to have to be forgiven?
One of the children asked ' Is there a kind of sorrow?' and everyone laughed.
I am hoping to get them more interested. If any of you can suggest fun activities to do while learning about the Sacraments, please let me know. I am not very creative or imaginative that way.  ;D
I am also interested in getting them excited about the Rosary. I got them to draw a Rosary and label the prayers, which most of them didn't know how and Homework for next week is research interesting facts about the Rosary and share with the class!  :angelblue:

The questions children ask are so helpful to adults.. I know just hearing them they can make things so simple..  :D

Saint Don Bosco also taught us a thing or two on how to get children interested in the ways of the Lord.

St John Bosco knew exactly how to attract children by beginning with juggling, magic tricks etc and once he had caught their admiration and attention would lead them to the Sacraments. We need priests like this once again...... :crucifix:
