Title: Riddle for the Day: Legs
Post by: Shin on May 27, 2010, 07:35:15 AM
Two legs sat upon three legs,
With one leg in his lap;
In comes four legs
And runs away with one leg;
Up jumps two legs,
Catches up three legs,
Throws it after four legs,
And makes him drop one leg.

What are we?

A man, a stool, a leg of mutton, and a dog.

It's beyond me. Could it be something connected to sports? I won't cheat. Give me a hint. :boggles:

Here's one especially for you Patricia! Careful!  :o

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits -
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

Only one!

The worst part about this is that I've read this one before, but for the life of me can't remember the answer now.. And I'll be beginning school soon. ::)

I think the answer has one digit. :-\   ? (I didn't want to give anything away, so that Patricia could answer this).

I think I got it, and Brigid's hint did it. Is it 1? Only one person was going to St. Ives. Oh, how could I have not got it earlier? ???

I don't know if that's the right answer Patricia, but you said what I came up with, '1'. We'll have to see if Shin says that's right. :shrug:

Formed long ago, yet made to-day,
Employed while others sleep;
What few would like to give away,
Nor any wish to keep.

A bed!

Here's another!

Brigid, did you think of the second one Shin posted? This is terrible. I ask either my children or Brigid for help. :boggles:

I'm trying not to peak, Shin - sometimes it may be green??

Green?  :boggles: Oh my, now you've made a riddle for me!

Green... green.. green...

I think tidy people will get this riddle's answer sooner than a person like myself, who needs to become a better example in more ways than one.

How about being furry?

Brigid you are riddling me to bits.. you are going to have to tell me what you are thinking of before this is all over!  :D

I suppose yes, it could be furry and green.. partly.. Though, it could also not be..

Actually, I had in mind two different possible riddle answers - one being furry and the other answer being green. But I just thought of a third possible answer that is both furry and green. :shrug:

Looks like the riddle has triumphed? :D

Perhaps some more sleep would help the mind to figure it out!  ;D

I've already cheated and don't feel the least bit guilty.
Does this seem like guilt to you? :cheers:
