Title: An Interesting Lady Post by: Shin on January 24, 2010, 07:41:47 PM I had a dinner tonight with my mother, her boyfriend (pray he leaves, by the way, another cross), and an interesting lady who I helped out with some computer technical issues.
Nadine is quite a character and fun to talk to. A Lutheran, she does not have much understanding about the Faith, but sounds interested in talking about the differences. She reads the scriptures and prays regularly. I had to answer some questions she had, her son had told her she could receive Communion I had to make this clear this was NOT acceptable, I pray she takes it to heart, because she objected loudly, that she believed Jesus was there so she should be able to have Him. She also thought purgatory was not believed in any more, and I had to tell her that you have to be Catholic to go to Heaven -- more objections naturally. And of course no help from the lapsed Catholics at the table. She got tearful with me, that's how she is. We parted friends, probably get together again in a little bit, lest anyone think it was anything but friendly if emotional. So I'm going to ask for prayers for Nadine. :) Title: Re: An Interesting Lady Post by: Brigid on January 24, 2010, 07:52:30 PM I had a dinner tonight with my mother, her boyfriend (pray he leaves, by the way, another cross), and an interesting lady who I helped out with some computer technical issues. Title: Re: An Interesting Lady Post by: CatholicChick on January 28, 2010, 11:24:18 PM I am praying for her. One of the things that brought me to the Church was the destruction on values in general in the Lutheran church. Also women pastors always bothered me since I was a child, and I also got to attend Mass with a family we were close to so I was exposed to the beautiful Holy Roman Catholic Church early in life, just took me a while to cross the Tiber. The Lutheran churches stance on pro life issues has always been wishy washy but what I have heard they are mega pro choice now in general, at least the Evangelical Lutherans are, there are more conservative groups such as the Missouri Synod that are pro life but most of the Lutheran churches are Evangelical Lutheran. Perhaps bring up these moral issues and she will see the errors of the Lutheran chruch. I am praying for her and you Shin :+:to be a bridge to the Truth
Title: Re: An Interesting Lady Post by: Shin on January 28, 2010, 11:30:51 PM Thank you so much.. !
I think I overwhelmed her a bit, so she's gone quiet on me. She certainly overwhelmed me a bit too! But, we will probably get together for dinner before too many more weeks have passed, and I'm sure she'll be up for another talk about religion. Her son became Catholic, but gave her bad advice on Catholic teaching, still it's a foot in the door. Got to bring those Lutherans home! Everybody home! ;D Title: Re: An Interesting Lady Post by: Brigid on January 29, 2010, 06:38:31 PM Thank you so much.. ! I think I overwhelmed her a bit, so she's gone quiet on me.
