Title: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Shin on August 12, 2010, 03:08:27 PM I have to begin writing a biography of my life and filling out a questionnaire for the Carthusians soon, I'd like to ask some prayers for that, that I do that well and they allow me to enter into the next stage.
I'm trying to prepare myself for what it would be like there in the daily life, practicing ahead of time, I'd like prayers for this too. I have absolutely no singing talent and the Carthusians despite all their solitariness do chant the divine office together, and one of my greatest concerns oddly enough is this, rather than the solitude, because as I said, I have no know-how that way. In a way I feel disadvantaged in that I have not pursued other religious orders vocations and so gained experience in trying out for them there to use here, at what is the one I feel truly called to. I am the type of person who often likes to be completely prepared ahead of time before he actually does something important. Well.. I want to say the prayers of you all here have done so much, I can tell. I see the difference in our lives.. So pray for me, that I may be able to pray for all in the religious life, please. :D :crucifix: An Offering of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary by St. John Eudes O Jesus, only Son of God, only Son of Mary, I offer Thee the most loving Heart of Thy divine Mother which is more precious and pleasing to Thee than all hearts. O Mary, Mother of Jesus, I offer Thee the most adorable Heart of Thy well-beloved Son, who is the life and love and joy of Thy Heart. Blessed be the Most Loving Heart and Sweet Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the most glorious Virgin Mary, His Mother, in eternity and forever. Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Brigid on August 12, 2010, 03:29:28 PM My :+: :+: are certainly with you in this endeavor.
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification. Body of Christ, be my salvation. Blood of Christ, fill all my veins. Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains. Passion of Christ, my comfort be. O good Jesu, listen to me In Thy wounds I fain would hide, N'er to be parted from Thy side. Guard me, should the foe assail me. Call me when my life shall fail me. Bid me come to Thee above, With Thy saints to sing Thy love, World without end. Amen. I will make this intention a duty of mine I join with all our dear family in raising you up in prayer to the Immaculate Virgin through all the saints and angels in heaven and all holy men and woman on earth. :+: :+: :+: :+: :+: Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. (Jeremiah 17:7) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse and prove me now herewith saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. ( Malachi 3:10-12) Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Bailey2 on August 12, 2010, 06:48:09 PM Ah Shin, I am so happy for you!! Your heart's desire in process!
Don't worry about singing. God gave you the voice. Use it! ;D :+: :+: Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Patricia on August 12, 2010, 08:18:11 PM I will pray for you Shin, that you may enter the next stage. :crucifix: :littleprayer: Don't worry about singing. That should be the least of your worries. Maybe you can start practicing at home. :)
Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Shin on August 13, 2010, 09:30:02 PM I don't have much hope for any singing improvement! Never have had any!
But I just read I might be able to be silent during the chanting too, which is the answer to a prayer! :D Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Plain Catholic on August 21, 2010, 02:38:18 AM Praying for your vocation, Shin. I understand from several monastic friends that they do train you to either sing or simply intone. God will provide. :crucifix: :+:
Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Patricia on August 21, 2010, 11:41:37 AM What if you sang and you were bad at it, would the monks have a private talk with you about it? :D Sometimes I hear people singing badly in church, but it sounds so beautiful because of their joy in singing. They are oblivious to what people think.

Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: RachelKH on December 18, 2010, 11:49:13 PM There is a very tall, big man who goes to my church and I believe he is slightly autistic. He has a big strong voice and loves to sing out. His joy and reverence show. His timing and tone at first were an irritation and distraction, but now we all just smile and enjoy his unique worship. God hears the beauty in his voice and we learn to too listening with grace. I'm sure you are a songbird to all who sense your love and reverence.

Ah Shin, just read Mary's little Tumbler again and see how pleased the Blessed Virgin is with our little talents whatever they may be when we use them to please her. They'll make you a saint one day. :D Title: Re: For My Calling to the Religious Life Post by: Jacki on December 22, 2010, 08:05:58 PM You are in my prayers Shin!
