Is it that gluttony is part of imprudence. :-\ Umph! Imprudence and gluttony. I never thought of it that way before.. but imprudence certainly leads to it, doesn't it! In fact so often when I think of the times I overate, the key! With overeating my general approach is -- beforehand I think, well this is a small thing, and only a little won't be a long enough time to enjoy the meal.. in other words, it's not a matter of hunger, I -could- make due with a smaller portion, it's a matter of sufficiently long enjoyment of the meal. And then of course, only -afterwards- I might think, 'Was that worth it? No..' and the typical regret that comes after.. in other words, instead of the spiritual way of hardship now, and lasting good memory, a brief 'good' memory, and lasting regret. And it's always leaping ahead, having another bite! Smaller portions.. Planning and praying ahead.. asking my guardian angel to help me, specifically, every day.. perhaps this will help more.. Honestly, really a small portion perhaps eaten more slowly.. It was gluttonous of me to eat a good size slice of decedent chocolate ice cream cake left over from my son's birthday! Mmmm, was it good! :happyroll: Title: Re: Imprudence vs. Gluttony Post by: Shin on August 23, 2010, 07:04:21 PM I feel like I need a whole different mindset and attitude towards eating to succeed. :D

Title: Re: Imprudence vs. Gluttony Post by: Bailey2 on August 23, 2010, 07:11:56 PM Imprudent: Not showing care for the consequences of an action; ex. leaving water at home when it is a 100 degrees outside
Gluttony: habitual greed or excess in eating these are dictionary definitions. Title: Re: Imprudence vs. Gluttony Post by: martin on August 23, 2010, 07:23:07 PM Imprudence: Not grabbing that last piece of cake when I had the chance.
Gluttony: The sin committed by my wife who got there first. ;D Title: Re: Imprudence vs. Gluttony Post by: Brigid on August 23, 2010, 07:24:47 PM Imprudence: Not grabbing that last piece of cake when I had the chance. Mmmm, was it good! Too bad gluttony is a capital sin. Seems to me the Child Jesus may have wanted to take a piece of chocolate ice cream cake, too. (I know, I know, He was without sin, even venial sin.)
