Title: Quote for the Day: Tell me O Christian, What More? Post by: Shin on September 25, 2010, 11:15:58 AM 'A certain man, while one day attending Mass without devotion, as too many do, at these concluding words of the last Gospel, And the Word was made flesh? made no external act of reverence; at the same instant a devil struck him a severe blow, saying, "Thankless wretch! thou nearest that a God was made man for thee, and dost thou not even deign to bend the knee? Oh, if God had done the like for me, I should be eternally occupied in thanking him!"
Tell me, O Christian! what more could Jesus Christ have done to win thy love?' St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori Title: Re: Quote for the Day: Tell me O Christian, What More? Post by: Shin on September 25, 2010, 11:16:37 AM The words, 'What more could He have done that He has not done?' and similar (those are from the Prayers of St. Bridget) always touch me...

Post by: Brigid on September 25, 2010, 04:46:33 PM Quote and dost thou not even deign to bend the knee Is not this very pertinent to todays liturgical actions. How unfortunate! :'( Title: Re: Quote for the Day: Tell me O Christian, What More? Post by: martin on September 25, 2010, 05:01:40 PM What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? was it that I looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it hath brought forth wild grapes? (Isaiah 5:4)
This passage is read during lent which I find very so moving. I often ask myself, Has the Lord left me with insufficient grace to overcome this or that? The answer has to be No... The Lord has done everything in His infinite power to save me. The Fault must be with me. :-\ Title: Re: Quote for the Day: Tell me O Christian, What More? Bring to this divine Heart all your troubles and afflictions, for whatever emanates from the Sacred Heart is sweet: It changes everything into love.'
