Title: Quote for the Day: Ask Yourself
Post by: Shin on September 28, 2010, 03:42:26 PM
'If you should find yourself in the sight of God, and one said to you: "Look thither;" and God, on the other hand, should say: "It is not my will that you should look;" ask your own heart what there is in all existing things which would make it right for you to give that look contrary to the will of God.'

St. Anselm of Canterbury
from his book, 'Why God Became Man' available on Saints' Books (http://www.saintsbooks.net). :D

This quote, if you ask yourself deeply and in silence.. and more than once..

It can truly register..

Seems to me it's about obedience. (I'm reading about obedience in St. Francis de Sales book, though).

Ah, you're making me think.. that wasn't my first thought.. so much as.. simply doing what was truly good rather than something less useful in the present moment..

I don't appreciate obedience enough yet. Well.. who does..

God help us to love obedience..
