Bruno was brought to Rome in 1090 by Pope Urban II, who he had taught at Rheims, as Papal Adviser in the reformation of the clergy. In 1057 Bruno became head of the Episcopal school, which at the time included the direction of the schools and the oversight of all the educational establishments of the diocese.
