Title: For Our Soldiers
Post by: Bailey2 on November 11, 2010, 01:19:12 PM
St. Ignatius of Loyola is the patron Saint of soldiers being one himself and also having his leg shattered on combat before his conversion.  Tempted to some serious depression (though I think he was depressed, just didn't kill himself), here is his prayer against depression written later on.  Let's join his prayer for our soldiers today, Veteran's Day.

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

By Saint Ignatius of Loyola

That is such a succinct prayer and it really pinpoints where it's needed.

Amen.  :D

His autobiography (http://www.saintsworks.net/books/St.%20Ignatius%20of%20Loyola%20-%20The%20Autobiography%20of.pdf) is very short! It's an easy and quick read.

May our Lord bless and protect our soldiers, and help them to persevere in faith.  Amen.
