The very young virgin martyr!

I read that on her feast day two lambs are blessed at her church in Rome, Italy and then their wool is woven into the palliums (bands of white wool) which the pope confers on archbishops as symbol of their jurisdiction.

'More cheerfully did she go forth to her execution, than others go to their wedding.'

St. Augustine, of St. Agnes

'Virgins enjoy many privileges. They will have gold crowns, they alone will sing the canticle, they will wear the same garments that Christ wears, they will always march after the Lamb himself.'

St. Jerome

'Continue to prepare yourself for everything as a meek lamb. Love to see your plans, though good, frustrated; a time will come when God will permit you fully to execute them.'

St. Paul of the Cross

'Christ made my soul beautiful with the jewels of grace and virtue. I belong to Him whom the angels serve.'

St. Agnes of Rome

My children have to begin a search for Patron Saints. My son has made up his mind ( seemingly way in advance ) about St. John Bosco. My 8 year old is going to research and she talks about St. Agnes a lot. My oldest.....well, I'm still bribing her to go to the website and research saints.

Ah Patricia, to bribe people to research saints! Cheesy You don't know how sweet that sounds! Even though I know it's tough!

Bribing people to research saints.. I've got to think about this..

Looks like St. John Bosco's decided on someone perhaps too! Cheesy

The St. Paul of the Cross quote really stays with me and makes for thought.
