In his homily on Sunday, Father mentioned that people want things quickly:
                   instant coffee, fast food, etc.
He indicated that before Christ was born, people were waiting for the Messiah.
Jesus came. When some people saw Jesus work miracles, these people had
kingly expectations of him. Some people expected salvation then and now.

Too much instant gratification as a child, and the habit persists in the adult.

Virtue and strength of the soul grow and are confirmed
In the trials of patience.

Great quote whiterockdove!

'Do not claim to have acquired virtue unless you have suffered affliction, for without affliction virtue has not been tested.'

St. Mark the Ascetic

'It happens sometimes that the lightning rends a mountain and discloses therein a mine of gold. So, also, the thunderbolts of adversity discover a gold-mine in certain souls.'

St. Paul of the Cross
