I wish I had started this with the first one,  but here is what was in my
Friday morning email, it is unfortunately too early to post today's yet!
Friday December 19:
"O Radix Jesse"

"O root of Jesse,
Who stand as a sign for the people,
Kings stand  silent in your presence,
Whom the nations will worship,
Come set us free,
Put it off no longer"

Good morning whiterockdove! It is beginning to feel like the Advent of Our Lord with these O Antiphons!

    O Radix Jesse, qui stas in signum populorum,
    super quem continebunt reges os suum,
    quem Gentes deprecabuntur:
    veni ad liberandum nos, jam noli tardare.

'The Lord said that he had found in David a man according to his own heart. And why? Because David fulfilled all his divine wills: I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart. Let us endeavor to say always with David: Teach me to do Thy will. Lord, teach me to do nothing but what Thou willest. Hence we must frequently offer ourselves to God, saying with the same holy prophet: My heart is ready, O God! my heart is ready.'

St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

"O Clavis David"

O Key of David
and scepter of the house of Isreal,
you open, and no one shuts,
you shut and no one opens:
Come and lead the prisoner from jail,
seated in darkness
and in the shadow of death.

"O Oriens"

 O Dawn,

 splendor of eternal light,

and sun of justice,

 come and shine,

 on those seated in darkness,

 and in the shadow of death.

"When he established the heavens I was
    there,
When he marked out the vault over the
  face of the deep;
When he made firm the skies above,
  when he fixed fast the foundations of the
     earth;
when he set for the sea it's limit,
  so that the waters should not transgress
    his command;
then was I beside him as his craftsman,
  and I was his delight day by day,
playing before him all the while,
  playing on the surface of his earth;
  and I found delight in the sons of men."

 I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, I'm just sitting here reading it, I  have been
 on this part of Proverbs lately, it's one of my very favorites.  Smiley

Beautiful quote whiterockdove.
 The Book of Wisdom, The Book of Proverbs And Sirach, I have grown to like them as well.
Which version of the Bible are you using?

When I was confirmed in 2012 our priest gave me an NAB bible:( the red paperback)
I just got a hard bound NAB so it would lay open on a table.  I am looking into other ones,
where the readings flow and recite better. (?)
I am attached to my NAB, though, it has a lot of memories of my RCIA
experience.
One day perhaps I will come across one forgotten in some dusty, cluttered used book store and I will
Rescue it, have it blessed and it will be a treasure!
 One does not find many Catholic bibles in used book stores, though. We take care of them, don't we! Smiley
