Important Equifax

Folks, from what is being reported now, it may be that well over a hundred million people have had personal ID information stolen.

Equifax is offering a "complementary" free year of ID theft protection through their "TrustedID Premier". I would not recommend signing up for this immediately, or signing anything with Equifax. A different company providing the protection sounds like it would be wiser.

The ID theft protection is Equifax's own, and signing up might contractually protect them more than you from any damages.. I can't parse the legalese at this point, I am just learning about this, this morning, so forgive me for my lack of thorough understanding. Be careful and take your time too to understand what is going on. A simple free year, which signs away your personal information for Equifax's marketing, and makes you a potential paying future customer afterwards to benefit them after this kind of service... This does not sound good.
