It belongs to love to sacrifice everything - to give generously - to act with folly. Love is prodigal to excess, and never counts the cost; love knows not how to calculate and freely foregoes all hope of dividends! O happy recklessness! O blessed intoxication of love! O, for that love that gives all with the total surrender of self besides!

Today is a Marian feast day.  I think the above words sum up the gospel reading today.   Cheesy

"Let us love, since that is all our hearts were made for."

The Blessed Giacopone, who in this world had been a man of letters, and afterwards became a Franciscan, seemed to have become mad through the love that he bore to Jesus Christ. One day Jesus appeared to him and said, “Giacopone, why do you commit these follies?”
“Why,” he answered, because Thou hast taught them me. If I am mad,” said he; “Thou hast been more mad than I, in that Thou hast died for me. I am a fool, for Thou hast been a greater fool.”

I wonder how many of us can truly totally surrender ourselves to Love, as they did?

'I see now, that true charity consists in bearing with the faults of those about us, never being surprised at their weaknesses, but edified at the least sign of virtue. I see above all that charity must not remain hidden in the bottom of our hearts: "nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house." It seems to me that this lamp is the symbol of charity; it must shine out not only to cheer those we love best but all in the house.'

She puts things in a way that is so accessible to everyone. Rather like He did in explaining His parables to his disciples.

I like this quote of St. Therese.  It is easy to talk of virtue but practising it specially with those who get on our last nerves is the most difficult thing to do.  And I find I have to exercise it even more now that I'm out in the world ( Like a classroom full of 14 girls with different personalities and a lot of clashes, tears and drama  Cheesy)  A friend was warning me  "Wait till you start working"  Cheesy )
