A new book has been added to Saints' Books:
M. L'Abbe Janvier, Director of the Priests of the Holy Face - Life of Sr. Mary of St. Peter, Carmelite of Tours - Autobiography of - The Golden Arrow An excerpt from:
'I often desired to have, a little statue of the Infant Jesus, to render my homage to him during the day; but I hesitated to ask our reverend mother for it. One day, it seemed that the Divine Infant urged me to insist on having one; I obeyed the inspiration, and my petition was granted. I now had the Holy Infant with me in the parlor, and I was supremely happy; I offered him all my little labors and demanded souls as a recompense. This Divine Infant gave me, in such profusion, all the graces I needed to fulfil my employment, that it was not injurious to my spiritual application, nor did it prevent my union with God when at prayer. All day long I labored for the salvation of the sheep of the Holy Infant Jesus, and at prayer, he repaid me a hundredfold.'
This life of Sr. Mary of St. Peter, Carmelite of Tours is associated with devotion to the Holy Face, and with the magnificent prayer given to her by Our Lord Jesus Christ:
The Golden ArrowMay the most holy, most sacred,
most adorable, most mysterious
and unutterable Name of God
be always praised, blessed,
loved, adored and glorified,
in heaven, on earth and in the hells,
by all the creatures of God,
and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ
in the most holy Sacrament of the altar.
The Golden Arrow was revealed by Our Lord Jesus Christ to a Carmelite nun of Tours in 1843 as a reparation for blasphemy.
Jesus said: "This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully, and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy."
I consider this prayer to be one of the secrets of happiness. This devotion and praise of the Holy Name, and reparation is so pleasing to Our Lord, the happiness of Heaven rains down again on earth, and upon our souls.
I think that however dry and barren a soul, through very frequent Spiritual Communion, and prayers such as this, you will find consolation.
