Because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to vomit thee out of my mouth;
Rev. 3:16

To him therefore who knoweth to do good, and doth it not, to him it is sin.

Oh that quote from James is especially good for me! I shall have to put it into the quotation website.

I know that I tend to excuse myself from doing the harder for some lesser good rather than go through trouble. I make excuses due to weakness but truly, I know I can do better and need to become more fervent and better at everything I do.

Often it's harder in the mind than the actual doing of a thing.

I think I need to no longer be satisfied with second best and have greater fervor. Smiley There's a wall there we have to break through! I will pray for you and I to get through this!

Well if someone is in trouble and you walk right by and take a siesta, instead of helping..

But everyone's in trouble! Still.. you can't burn yourself out. And yet, saying that, we often take it easier than we should.. I know I'm trying to get to the next level.. a more intense and direct and harder priorities first life.. and it's difficult to break through..

What helps me is to keep a sense of how important it truly is. I pray God keeps visiting me with it till it sticks.

Once you've got a good habit, if the feelings go, you can still keep it up. Of course not needing those feelings to take it up in the first place is truly the best..

Sins of omission. That's a real 'bugbear' for me. I need to get a good spiritual director. Bailey2 - thanks for reminding me to write the nearby monastery for one.

I'm glad you thought of that.  His presence in my life has been one of my greatest graces.  Told him so in a card the weekend he celebrated his 40th anniversary of priesthood!  Good man; my more "liberal" priest who has the Agnus Dei sung at one of the masses!   Wink

But there's bad guilt over what you neglect that just depresses you and demotivates you to do better.. I am finding that I do more when I think about how great the responsibility is and how much good it does that I do the thing.. how important it is.. in a good way.
