If you wish to change your user name for some good reason, just send a PM, and it can be done. As long as everyone else knows the before and after, it's fine to change your user name in general.
Also, if you wish to delete or edit an older post or posts that the system doesn't automatically allow you to do so, simply again send a PM, and it can be done.
The generous time out on allowing deletion and editing automatically is only there to prevent accidents as a rule, and not a policy against deleting or editing after a length of time.
Also, a reminder, there's a no links policy in effect, so users cannot post links and special requests to post a link are discouraged. Attempts to post a link result in a posting error.
More on this policy is in the other announcements. Among the reasons for it are safety, responsibility, and modesty. If there's something you wish to talk about, simply talk about it in your own words. This often is the best way in general in any case.
(Privately through PMs folks may wish to exchange information that isn't suitable for the public forum. This is fine, but remember to be responsible and careful.)
And remember to be careful about recommending links, books, etc. that might actually not be entirely good. When in doubt, simply do not do it. This is not a forum for discussing secular entertainment, or generally recommending modern books that have various overlooked flaws in them.
Search engines and various archival software regularly archives a good deal of what is posted on the Internet. So what you post on the Internet can acquire a permanent character as well as a public character. Every post you make in the public areas of the forum (those available before logging in) may be archived by a search engine or other Internet entity. Please be very careful in what you recommend or reference. This is one of the reasons why to stay with older authors and the saints.
Older Bibles (the original Douai), older religious authors, when in doubt -- the older the better.
And always the saints.
Thanks for reading.
