The baptism of Jesus, the ritual purification of Jesus with water by John the Baptist,   
is a major event described it the three synoptic Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark and Luke).

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord marks the beginning of what is called the public ministry of Jesus.
