The Month of the Holy Name of Jesus

                  The month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus.     
                   The hymn All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name! is an appropriate hymn.     
                  The Holy Name is all-powerful because of the Person who bears it.

The Golden Arrow

May the most holy, most sacred,
most adorable, most mysterious
and unutterable Name of God
be always praised, blessed,
loved, adored and glorified,
in heaven, on earth and in the hells,
by all the creatures of God,
and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ
in the most holy Sacrament of the altar.

The Golden Arrow was revealed by Our Lord Jesus Christ to a Carmelite nun of Tours in 1843 as a reparation for blasphemy.

Jesus said: "This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully, and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy."

             The name of Jesus has marvelous implications.             
             The name of Jesus means "savior".     
             The very name bespeaks the magnitude of Christ's mission.

                   In the name of Jesus we may pray to the Father with assurance of being heard.   
                     In the name of Jesus the Church administers all her sacraments.

Reverence for the name of Jesus is emphasized by Saint Paul in Phippians 2:10 where he states:   
"That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth."
