'Our labor here is brief, but the reward is eternal. Do not be disturbed by the clamor of the world, which passes like a shadow.'

'Do not let the false delights of the deceptive world deceive you.'

'Gaze upon Him, consider Him, contemplate Him, as you desire to imitate Him.'

'He Christ is the splendor of eternal glory, "the brightness of eternal light, and the mirror without cloud."'

Today is also the day of St. Ewald the Black, a priest who was tortured and martyred by pagan Saxons who did not wish to give up their old religion. He shared his journey with St. Ewald the Fair. He knew Saint Willibrord of Echternach, the son of St. Hilgis, who was taught by St. Egbert, and was a missionary to Freisland and Luxemberg with St. Swithbert. St. Willibrord also worked with Saint Boniface, Saint Rumold, Saint Werenfridus, Saint Engelmund, and Saint Adalbert of Egmond.

St. Ewald the Black and St. Ewald the Fair were torn limb from limb c. 695 at Aplerbeck, Westphalia. Their bodies thrown into the River Rhine, but they were miraculously moved 40 miles upstream to a place where friends were camping, and then were recovered and their relics translated to the church of Saint Cunibert, Cologne, Germany by Duke Pepin of Austrasia and some relics translated to the Premonstratensian monastery of Florennes in the province of Namur in 1121 by Saint Norbert. Most of their relics were destroyed by Anabaptists in the year of Our Lord 1534.

How the saints are all in a Communion with one another!  Cheesy

How many saints there were in those days.. What has gone wrong with our time?
Could it all be to do with what's happened to the Mass?

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
(Galatians 2:20)
