b)  Politicians

c)  Sculptors

d)  Skin diseases

e)  Soldiers

a) St. Matthew   b) St. Thomas Moore   c) St. Luke   d) St. Peregrine  e) St. Joan of Arc

Okay this is a toughie for me without looking it up.. believe it or not.. I haven't paid much attention to this yet..

I think skin diseases might be St. Peregrine..

Soldiers.. perhaps St. Ignatius of Loyola or St. Sebastian.. ? I remember St. John of Capistrano helping an army to victory against the Moors, but I don't think that gave him patronage.

Politicians.. St. Thomas More? Or was that lawyers.. So easy to confuse the two!

Sculptors.. was it St. Cecilia, or was that only music and perhaps painting?

I probably got these all wrong! Cheesy

You have two correct Shin.. Politicians and Skin diseases.

You may well be correct on the others too as there are certain overlaps but if you keep going I'm sure you'll find the answers I have.  Cheesy

Hmm. I keep thinking the patron saint of accountants should be an accountant but I can't think of any saints who were accountants. So then I try to think of saints who had to keep track of minutiae. Cheesy

St. Isidore of Seville? St. Thomas Aquinas? Two guesses. Best I can do!!

Wait.. St. Anthony of Padua is always finding little things..

I am way out there no?

Maybe a clue would be of a little help on the accountant saint.  Cheesy

He was a prominent biblical (New Testament) saint.

Somehow it seems I remember from somewhere that St. Matthew was the patron St. of accountants, like Patricia said.

Soldiers - St. Michael the Archangel

Sculptors - St. Luke

Some background to the 14 Holy Helpers.. at their heart are three virgin martyrs..

From what I read.. the others began to be invoked alongside.. all of the saints except one are considered martyrs..

Some of their patronages are, in order..

against headache, for soldiers,
against fever and sudden death, against fire, safety from storms,
against illness of the throat and for protection of domestic animals,
against sudden death, for maidens and girls,
against bubonic plague and dangers while traveling, and against sudden death, against bad dreams,
against temptation, especially on the death-bed, against possession, for the eyes,
against headache, for the possessed,
against abdominal ailments, for boatmen, and for protection of domestic animals
against family discord, for hunters,
for the protection of domestic animals, for knights,
against plague, for a good confession, and for cripples, beggars and blacksmiths,
for a safe childbirth, and for escape from devils,
for physicians, and against cancer and tuberculosis, and for protection of domestic animals
against epilepsy, lightning, protection from wild animals

Lots of farmers in the past! Cheesy

Let me see.  Huh?

Since you mention Throats I'll take a guess at St Blaise
and I'm sure St Christopher must be somewhere among them.

I need the rest of the team here.  Cheesy

After more folks take a shot I am going to be very generous with hints with this one.. Some of the names, if you don't know, you just can't get because they're a bit old.. So I'll fill in more hints and more letters before the end.

But try your best first!
