I think it's because he used to be a Tax Collector.  Huh?

I keep thinking about this now.. what would the world be like without tax collectors? Would there be any accountants? Yes there would.. but.. Much fewer I think!

Ah the last saint who begins with an 'e' is known as an exemplar of patience in adversity. . .

This high ranked military man converted to Christianity following a hunting trip during which he saw a glowing cross between the antlers of a stag, after which he received a prophecy that he would suffer for Christ. He was baptized with his wife, and two sons, also saints..

Before he converted, his peaceful name began with a 'p'..

He and his family were martyrs under Hadrian..
