Odhiambo, if you are thinking of good St. Joseph Copertino, its not the right answer. Grin Actually the Saint I'm referring to is the exact opposite of St. Copertino personality and academics-wise.  Eeek

I love good St. Joseph of Copertino. Cheesy

I think James might know the answer to this one. Cheesy I think I do too, so I'll leave it to others to guess!  Grin

You're right George!  It is St. Thomas Aquinas who was called 'dumb ox' by some of his fellow students. They were not aware of the depths of his concentration . What appeared sometimes to be slowness of response was, in reality, his being 'lost in thought'.

It was his teacher, St. Albert the Great, who set the students straight by predicting: " One day, his bellowing will be heard around the earth."   littlewings

“Give us, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downwards; give us an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; give us an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow upon us also, O Lord our God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Saint Thomas Aquinas

I believe it was St. Ignatius of Antioch in a letter to the Smyrnaeans around 107 AD. but I'm not sure of the exact date.

I read somewhere that before it was written it was first spoken. We are therefore looking at a date towards the end of the First Century as per the date George as given us above  Smiley

George, Odhiambo you are right! Very close ....year 110! Cheesy

In the year 110, by St. Ignatius, bishop of Antioch, who wrote:
"Where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."    (Ad Smyrn. 8:2) violin

"The Church is called Catholic by all Her enemies, as well as by Her own children. Heretics and schismatics can call the Church by no other name than Catholic, for they would not be understood, unless they used the name by which the Church is known to the whole world."    (St. Augustine, 4th-5th Centuries, in De Vera Religione-"Concerning True Religion") Little Angel

A thought provoking question..  Cheesy

I guess that the answer to it is likely similar to the one about when baptism may be given..!
