I'd just like to remind everyone on this feast day of this little booklet, so key towards appreciating the wonders of the holy name.

It is splendid to read online, and splendid to purchase in book form, and a great act of charity to do so in bulk for parishes.

"We have been hearing and have been repeating from childhood the Holy Name of Jesus, but alas, many, very many, have no adequate idea of the great wonders of this Holy Name!

What do you know, Dear Reader, about the Name of Jesus? You know that it is a holy name and that you must bow your head reverently when you say it. That is very little. It is as if you looked at a closed book and merely glanced at the title on the cover. You know nothing of all the beautiful thoughts in the book itself.

Even so, when you pronounce the Name of Jesus you know very little of the treasures hidden in it.

This Divine Name is in truth a mine of riches; it is the fount of the highest holiness and the secret of the greatest happiness that a man can hope to enjoy on this earth. Read and see.

It is so powerful, so certain, that it never fails to produce in our souls the most wonderful results. It consoles the saddest heart and makes the weakest sinner strong. It obtains for us all kinds of favors and graces, spiritual and temporal.

Two things we must do. First of all, we must understand clearly the meaning and value of the Name of Jesus.

Secondly, we must get into the habit of saying it devoutly, frequently, hundreds and hundreds of times every day. Far from being a burden, it will be an immense joy and consolation."

The Name of Jesus, Our Hope

The Name of Jesus is enshrined, like a jewel set in a precious setting, at the very heart of today's Gospel. Even as I look at the layout of the Gospel -- it is but a single verse -- on the page of the Evangeliary, I see that the Name of Jesus occurs precisely in the middle of text. One who receives the Name of Jesus from the Gospel, and holds it in his heart, will find that it becomes there an unfailing wellspring of hope. The Name of Jesus is an anchor of hope in the soul's secret depths, a reason -- no, the only reason -- for hoping against hope when the forces of despair marshalled by the world, the flesh, and the devil, threaten to pull one into the outer darkness of complete despondency.

Our Blessed Lady and Saint Joseph

Our Blessed Lady and in Saint Joseph demonstrate and illustrate the virtue of hope, especially in the Infancy narratives of the Gospels of Saint Matthew and Saint Luke. Both of them received in secret, as it were, the adorable Name of Jesus; Our Lady from the Archangel Gabriel (Luke 1:31), even before she uttered her Fiat(Luke 1:38), and Saint Joseph from the Angel who came to him in a dream by night (Matthew 1:21). The Most Holy Name of Jesus held in their hearts and endlessly repeated became for both of them the fountain of hope that neither deceives nor confounds those who stake their very lives upon it.

Not only do Our Blessed Lady and Saint Joseph demonstrate and illustrate the virtue of hope; they also dispense it, in abundance, to the souls who seek their intercession. Our Lady, being the Mediatrix of All Graces is Spes Nostra, Our Hope. Where Mary is, there is hope. It is enough for a soul to seek the presence of Mary, and to pronounce her sweet name for hope to fill the terrible void of despair.

As for Saint Joseph, he graciously imparts the grace of hope to those who ask for his paternal help. Saint Joseph, having held fast to hope amidst darkness and trials, is now charged with helping, from his place in heaven, those who are tempted against this virtue that the powers of darkness so hate. With good reason does the Church invoke Saint Joseph as the "Terror of Demons," for when Saint Joseph enters a crisis to bring souls heavenly aid, he foils every diabolical plot to cast them into despair.

Into the New Year

This, then, is my motto for 2011: Spera in Deo. And the psalm goes on to say, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi: salutare vultus mei et Deus meus. "I will praise him yet: the salvation of my countenance and my God." I will go forward in hope, relying on the intercession of the Virgin Mother of God and of Saint Joseph, repeating the Name of Jesus ceaselessly in my heart.

This book has been here all along; 
I came across it at the bookshop yesterday, bought it and liked it. I wanted to recommend it then decided to check the site first and there it was, "The Wonders of the Holy Name"!
Talk of having eyes and not seeing .
I am still reading it, it is a great booklet.

There's nothing like saying 'Jesus, Mary, and Joseph' aloud, repeatedly, throughout the day.

It makes Heaven happy to hear, and the happiness comes back to us! It chases the devils away, however much they try to trouble us, said softly again and again, as long as those words are in the air the cannot abide to hear the holy names of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. . . Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. . .

When I was in grade school, whenever we have a test, at the top of the paper I and most of my classmates write these words at the topmost of our test papers: "JMJ Help me!"

Here is my question:
I have always thought that once we have received Jusus in Holy Communion, He would dwell within us continously untill such time when we are unfortunate enough to  commit a mortal sin which would then effectively separate us from Him. According to the above, however, The Lord only stays a few minutes.

Here is my question:

I think it is not just "mortal sin"  that would separate us from Him.  Venial sin would as well.  Sin (whatever catergory) will always separate us from Him.

I think perhaps reading the passage since it is talking about Holy Communion, and he is talking about 5-10 minutes, father is speaking about Our Lord being with us bodily as well as spiritually in His full presence?

Then too, the more we contemplate the Lord the closer we are to Him, no? And the more we love Him, the closer?

The more times we say the Holy Name devoutly, and have Holy Communion, spiritually or sacramentally.. should we go to Heaven.. And God help us to do so..

The more splendid our Heaven with Him will be.. !
