Then the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said:  Who is this that wrappeth up sentences in unskillful words?  Gird up thy loins like a man: I will ask thee, and answer thou me.  Where wast thou when I laid up the foundations of the earth? tell me if thou hast understanding.

This one, in this translation, makes me giggle.  The New American translation is a bit different; gives a different emotional flavor... like you are being shamed.  But this translation gives me the feeling of God doing this.       Never thought of it in this way before.  I like it!

Then Job answered the Lord, and said: What can I answer, who hath spoken inconsiderately? I will lay my hand upon my mouth. One thing I have spoken, which I wish I had not said: and another, to which I will add no more.'

 "Spoken inconsiderately"... If we discuss all Job's words (saith St. Gregory), we shall find nothing impiously spoken; as may be gathered from the words of the Lord himself, chap. 42, ver. 7, 8; but what was reprehensible in him, was the manner of expressing himself at times, speaking too much of his own affliction, and too little of God's goodness towards him, which here he acknowledges as inconsiderate. - Douay Commentary

Job Chapter 5 Verses 24-25   
In his First speech to Job, Eliphaz the Temanite declares:   
And you shall know that your tent is secure;       
taking stock of your household, you shall miss nothing.   
You shall know that your descendants are many,   
and your offspring as the grass of the earth.

Teach me, and I will be silent;   
prove to me wherein I have erred.     
 
Job wanted to know what he might have done wrong.

It seems a remarkable coincidence that these comments on Job jump out at me as I'm stick at home feeling sorry for myself with covid, although enjoying more time with my books and the computer.  Several times in the past couple weeks I have resolved to review the lessons of Job, but I needed this stimulation.  Many thanks.  I love my NAB Dictionary-Concordance because the articles are concise and well-documented by Scripture. But not always easy to understand.  I wonder if it seems reasonable that God sometimes chooses to clearly demonstrate His Power, and that He can create goodness from evil.
