I'll be interested in what you (or anyone) say. The Summa is just too complicated for me. I know he's not meaning to be, but ....... I get it, but don't really get it if you know what I mean.
Haha, I don't understand it entirely too! It makes me think! I will have to read more but right now I like wondering about it!

Humility is necessary not only for the acquisition of virtues, but even for salvation. For the gate of heaven, as Christ Himself testifies, is so narrow that it admits only little ones.

And St. Therese's Little Way shows so clearly how to be a little one. We are so lucky to have her example of humility. I need to look at her works again.

I shall do everything for heaven, my true home. There I shall find my mother in all the splendor of her glory. I shall delight with her in the joy of Jesus himself in perfect safety.

Seek your place of refuge in the Divine Heart, the haven of tranquility. Within that furnace of saintly love, become evermore inflamed with love for God.

In the words of an old monk whom I've come to admire, there is a peace in loneliness
when you come to know the " Invisible companionship of God."

It makes me think of the word 'solitude'.
One is alone.. but not alone.
There's a kind of loneliness that is a temptation. Then there's another kind I think is relatively harmless.
And then there's the recognition that angels and saints and devils too, are besides us throughout our lives.
We can always talk with Him. And always love them. And we always have something to put ourselves to the test against and exercise some virtue regarding too!
And then there's a sort of listlessness and searching for satisfaction that the Desert Fathers call the noonday demon, which all must be one of its common sources when it's a temptation. There is plenty to keep one occupied but one forgets or can't focus on it..
Forgetting the happiness of Heaven is something that causes me to lose motivation, I have to remember God and the right way, not the wrong way.

The creator of the heavens obeys a carpenter;
The God of eternal glory listens to a poor virgin.
Has anyone ever witnessed anything comparable to this?
Let the philosopher no longer disdain from listening to the common laborer;
The wise to the simple; the educated, to the illiterate;
A child of a prince, to a peasant.
St. Anthony of Padua
