'Buffoonery incapacitates a person from receiving any additional spirituality from God. Nay more, it roots up the little a man may have already acquired.'

In The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 19 Verse 10 states:
Luxury is not befitting a fool; much less should a slave rule over princes.

In the original Douai we read 'Delicacies become not a fool: nor a servant to rule over princes.' or in the Latin, 'Non decent stultum deliciae, nec servum dominari principibus.'

'Before I proceed farther I exhort every one of you to make a general confession, if you have not as yet made one. And I now speak not only of those whose confessions have been sacrilegious on account of having concealed sins, or invalid for want of sufficient examination of conscience, or of sufficient sorrow; but I speak of all who wish to be permanently converted to God. A general confession is a great means of bringing about a true change of life. After her conversion to God, St. Margaret of Cortona told all her sins to her confessor, and thereby made herself so pleasing and dear to God, that our Lord himself spoke to her and called her, "My sinful one; my poor little one." She one day said to Jesus Christ: "Lord, when wilt Thou call me Thy daughter?" Jesus Christ answered: "When thou hast made a general confession of thy whole life then I will call you my daughter." She made a general confession, and from that time Jesus Christ always called her his child.'

'But I am so exhausted in the morning. Remind myself of the temptation Father Avila experienced one day when he was on his way to celebrate Mass. He hesitated because he was so weary. Our Lord appeared to him, showing him the wound on His heart and reminding him that weariness had not prevented Him from going all the way to Calvary. Courage! I must learn how to persevere also.
After all, if I am tired, even if I am exhausted, I can rest in the heart of Jesus.'

'Every kindness ought to be shown to the weak and suffering, for after all their pain comes from God, and if men take it on themselves to add to their difficulties, then does their affliction call aloud to the Father of mercies against those that trouble them:
Because they have persecuted him whom thou hast smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds
(Psalm 68 : 27)'

'
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
This blessedness, dearly beloved, does not derive from any casual agreement or from any and every kind of harmony, but it pertains to what the Apostle says: Be at peace before the Lord, and to the words of the prophet: Those who love your law shall enjoy abundant peace; for them it is no stumbling block. Even the most intimate bonds of friendship and the closest affinity of minds cannot truly lay claim to this peace if they are not in agreement with the will of God.
Alliances based on evil desires, covenants of crime and pacts of vice - all lie outside the scope of this peace. Love of the world cannot be reconciled with love of God, and the man who does not separate himself from the children of this generation cannot join the company of the sons of God. But those who keep God ever in their hearts, and are anxious to preserve the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace, never dissent from the eternal law as they speak the prayer of faith.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
'

'The reason why so many souls who apply themselves to prayer are not inflamed with God's love is, that they neglect to carefully prepare themselves for it.'

'It is most unbecoming for Christians to sit down at table to eat before the food has been blessed by someone in the group. As the Gospel tells us, Jesus Christ, who is our model in all things, was in the habit of blessing what had been prepared for him and for those who accompanied him. To act otherwise would be to act like animals (Mt 14:18 [19]; 15:36; Mk 6:41).'
