King Louis IX of France acquired a relic of the True Cross from Emperor Baldwin II of Constantinople in the 13th century.
King Louis IX built the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France to house the fragment of the True Cross.

The strict law of fasting among Roman Catholics was dispensed with during the Second World War.
Only Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are now kept as Lenten fast days.

Spy Wednesday is the name given to the Wednesday of Holy Week in the Catholic tradition.
It refers to the day when Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, as recorded in Matthew Chapter 26 Verses 14-16.

Why is the Passion Account read on Palm Sunday?
Reading the Passion on Palm Sunday sets the tone for Holy Week by focusing on Jesus' suffering and sacrifice.
It helps the faithful reflect on the events that lead to the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

On Monday of Holy Week, Jesus is believed to have cleansed the temple, driving out the money changers, as recorded in the Gospels.

On Tuesday of Holy Week, Jesus went with his disciples to the Mount of Olives.
Here, Jesus gave the Olivet Discourse, an elaborate prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem.

The first recording of a Holy Week observance was made by Egerea, a Gallic woman who made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land about 381-384

There is a Holy Thursday tradition to visit seven churches.
After the Holy Thursday Mass, Catholics visit seven churches to pray and adore the Eucharist in each church.
